When i was a student i lived with a dj (hey it was the early nineties) and next to his decks for the whole time we lived there, could be found an old scottish folk record. I thought the record lived there cause when i woke up around midday (hey i was a student) i would play that record when getting ready. When we moved out, each flatmate announced that this was the record they woke up to and we realised that we all had the same routine in the morning, although we got up at different times. The record in question "Do You See The Lights " by Rab Noakes originally released on decca in 1970 has just been remastered and released on rab's own label neon records. Not only does this record have finely crafted songs and strong melodies so representative of scottish singer songwriters but it has a virtuoso electric guiter performance by noted session musician Robin Mckidd. The songs have not aged much due to the minimal production style and the intricate electric guitar is still very fresh even now 40 years on. Anyway i hope you enjoy this forgotten gem.
